Virtual Pipelines

Many remote locations such as mine sites have insufficient energy demand or project life to warrant the construction of a pipeline to deliver gas for power generation and other purposes. Such sites have had no alternative but to import liquid fuel, generally diesel, to fuel their power and transport needs............until now.

IntelliGas has designed a HDCNG™ Virtual Pipeline System.  A B-double virtual pipeline road train unit will contain in excess of 800 Gigajoules (GJ) of natural gas the equivalent in energy terms of more than 20,000 litres of diesel.

The number of road trains required for each virtual pipeline will vary with both the amount of energy required and the distance the road trains have to travel, however the virtual pipeline creates the opportunity for HDCNG™ to displace diesel on remote mine sites, bringing potential savings to the mine owner, together with significant reductions in greenhouse gases, noxious emissions and particulate emissions when compared to diesel.
